Climate Adaption Plan which will help to achieve a world leading 6 Green Star Design & As Built v1.3 rating across each building on this 77ha estate.

The YARDS is a joint venture between Frasers Property Industrial and Aware Real Estate. A mixed-use development in Western Sydney, it is strategically positioned for sustainable and accelerated growth with prime transport and infrastructure hubs located 14km from Western Sydney Airport, 56km from Port Botany and 47km from Sydney’s CBD.

APPROACH & SOLUTION

SDC developed an estate-wide Climate Adaptation Plan that is now being rolled out across all buildings on 14 lots within this large-scale precinct.

This Plan and strategy assisted in the notable achievement of the estate being the first Industrial development in Australia to achieve the highest possible 6 Star Green Star Communities v1.1 rating from the Green Building Council of Australia.

The Plan will also be used to target an impressive 6 Star “World Leading” Green Star Design & As Built v1.3 rating for each individual building throughout the development.

SDC has a longstanding relationship with Frasers Property Industrial and through this, have helped them further identify not only the risks associated with climate change for their portfolio of all facilities, projects and estates – but also how they can actively pre-empt potential risks and build proactive responses into designs or developments from crucial early stages.

BUILDING SUMMARY

Site Area of approximately 400,000 m2 consisting of:
  • Rainwater tanks included on each building
  • Drought tolerant landscaping installed throughout
  • Estate design pushed back behind 1 in 100 year flood level to increase resilience against flooding
  • Estate designed with 25% tree coverage
  • Healthy and active design for workers and community with integrated parks, walking tracks and cycle paths throughout the estate
