SUSTAINABILITY CONSULTANT — VICTORIA

Full-time — Metro Melbourne (Camberwell) / Hybrid

Sustainable Development Consultants (SDC) has a dedicated team of around thirty ESD professionals across our offices in Sydney and Melbourne, with projects across Australia. Over our 20+ years, SDC has assisted architects, designers, builders and developers in producing exceptional built environments.

THE OPPORTUNITY

SDC’s expertise is broad and our impact is far-reaching. Our capability, honed over years of innovation and project delivery, covers the simple to the rigorous and complex. This role will see you working as an important part of our passionate and motivated team, to support in providing excellent service and tangible results.

In this role you’ll be supported by a Director who is a Green Star Champion, as well as an experienced team made up of a diverse range of ESD professionals. The role will also see you assist design and construction teams in achieving and exceeding sustainability ratings, performance, efficiency and comfort across a wide range of projects.

With our keen focus on better buildings for the future, to date we have achieved around 60 Green Star certified projects and we currently have a further 120 plus registered Green Star projects in progress. This role will see you focusing on a range of Green Star projects, assisting during all phases to achieve further Green Star certifications.

Your success path will look like this:

3 months:

– Settle well into the role
– Have a solid grounding in the SDC approach and delivery of their ESD services
– Actively contributing as part of the SDC team, including assisting in the management of Green Star projects

6 months:

– Continue to contribute as part of the SDC team to service clients and projects, as well as specialising in the delivery and management of Green Star projects
– Expanded your knowledge of all things Green Star

12 months:

– Be proficient and confident in the delivery and management of Green Star projects
– Have gained project experience and knowledge across a variety of building types
– Honed effective time and management skills and be in a position to assist, guide and manage others – advancing towards the next path in your career with us.

YOU’RE WELL SUITED TO THE ROLE IF YOU HAVE:

  • Have a minimum of 3 years relevant working experience in ESD
  • Are a Green Star Accredited Professional and have knowledge across Green Star tools and experience in Green Star projects
  • Have undertaken energy modelling assessments using DesignBuilder software (Energy & Daylight) or a similar modelling tool
  • Have experience in a range of ESD tools including FirstRate, HERO, BESS and MUSIC
  • Have a qualification in environmental or building services engineering (or a related field)
  • Are an excellent verbal and written communicator (we’re a client-facing consulting service after all)
  • And are driven by:

    – contributing to more sustainable built environments; and
    – a commitment to improving the overall performance of buildings.

We are focussed at SDC on how we can better support our team to more harmoniously blend work with all other areas of their lives. Our Flexible 75 hour working fortnight means you can work 9 or 10 days per fortnight, along with having flexibility around the hours you work each day, including your start and finish times.

This flexibility extends beyond just working hours, with Hybrid working also on offer, allowing a combination of in-office and remote working.

Our bright, open-plan Melbourne office located in the heart of Camberwell is close to public transport, central to a vast array of amenities, and has on-site parking and end-of-trip facilities also available.
